Quitting alcohol: ‘The joyless vision of sobriety couldn’t have been further from the truth’

When I first stopped drinking, I studiously avoided discussing my sobriety at work or at social events. Quitting alcohol has been fantastic for me – but I avoided telling people, for fear of being thought boring. I was scared that I wouldn’t be able to dance anymore, to have sex with the lights on, or do any number of the little things that make life worth living.
